About Us
FACT – Each year an estimated 600,000-800,000 men, women, and children are trafficked across international borders. Most of these victims are women and children and are forced into prostitution. There are a number of common patterns for luring victims into situations of sex trafficking, including:
A promise of a good job in another country
Being sold into the s*x trade by parents, husbands, boyfriends
Being kidnapped by traffickers
S*x traffickers use a variety of methods to “condition” their victims including starvation, beatings, gang rape, threats of violence to the victims’ families, and forced drug use.
Slavery… Human Trafficking…
I will never forget the day that I learned that slavery still existed in the world. It was only 3 short years ago. I was overwhelmed with every emotion that you can image…grief, anger, pity, resolve to do something to help, a “knowing” that I personally could make a difference.
I remember the night that our Pastor gave the invitation for us to give all of ourselves…to give everything and if we could climb into the offering basket and give ourselves, to do that too. The place I was standing when I mentally and spiritually rolled up my sleeves and said to God, “Here am I, Send ME” was in Mumbai, India in a medical clinic in the Red Light District.
A Way of Escape -
I saw women in the red light districts of Kolkata and Mumbai who have never been offered choices. I asked my guides, “Of all these thousands of women I see, how many are enslaved?” “All of them,” was the unimaginable answer.
I prayed, “Lord God, the ripple effect of my tiny efforts in this sea of humanity will never even be felt.”
God spoke to my heart and said, “Every ONE matters to Me.”
The Jubilee Market was birthed in March 2008 when we became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Working in conjunction with Project Rescue in Kolkata INDIA, we contribute to the rescue efforts by:
• assisting with building a Home of Hope
• making provisional supplies for the Vocational Centers
• training with new job skills
• purchasing the product made by the rescued women
• selling and marketing the product
Each one of us has our own unique part to play in the fight against modern-day slavery.
We are asking for you to help us in our fight. Your purchase with The Jubilee Market makes YOU the next link in the “Chain of Rescue”.
